Head of Finance– Maternity Leave Contract (14 Months)
 
 
Reporting directly to the President & COO, the Head of Finance will provide coverage for a maternity leave for the current Head of Finance over a 14-month contract. The chosen candidate will lead the accounting and finance functions for the Canadian organization, managing a team of 4 and working cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Innovation, HR and Operations. This role wears a lot of different hats and has a lot of Executive exposure, so you’ll need an entrepreneurial spirit with no hesitation to “roll up your sleeves” and dive into something new.
 
The contract will begin in May 2025 and end in July 2026.
 
Responsibilities:
 
General:
·      Responsible and accountable for financial results, reporting directly to the President & COO and Board of Directors on a monthly basis
·      Manage team of 4 (2 direct reports), providing coaching and development to help achieve their annual KPI’s, expand their capabilities, and grow their careers
·      Assist as needed in HR, Legal and IT functions
Accounting & Finance:
·      Oversee month- and year-end close proceedings, completing deliverables within deadlines and ensuring a high level of accuracy
·      Working with FP&A Manager on monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow forecasting, gross margin and variance analysis, providing results to Executive Management. Actively measure results against business plan/forecast and last year, proactively calling attention to risk areas and mitigation opportunities
·      Oversee annual budgeting process (2026), participate in long-range planning updates
·      Actively manage credit facilities, ensuring compliance with bank covenants and seasonal cash flow constraints
·      Administer customer pricing functions
·      Represent Finance in weekly S&OP Meetings
·      Propose and/or assist with assessing and implementing cost-savings initiatives
·      Coordinate and be accountable for indirect tax compliance, oversee submission of all tax filings including annual corporate tax return
·      Coordinate year-end review engagement with Accounting Manager and external auditors
·      Oversee and implement necessary internal control measures, ensure effectiveness

Qualifications:
·      CPA (or equivalent) designation is an asset
·      Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance
·      5+ years direct experience in hands-on accounting operations (ERP system usage)
·      CPG industry experience required, beverage alcohol experience is an advantage
·      Strong demonstrable skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
·      Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
·      Excellent communication skills, able to explain financial concepts to non-finance people
·      An entrepreneurial spirit – strong desire to “roll up your sleeves” and get involved
·      Comfortable with a constantly changing, high-growth culture
·      Excellent time-management skills: able to multi-task, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and re-prioritize as things change

Compensation

$130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
